Jewfish Basin
Jewfish Basin is the closest and a great place to find sandbars. There are endless shallow water flats in the Jewfish Basin. Countless anchorages and sandbars are exposed at low tide. Many of the more popular sandbars near Key West are in the Jewfish Basin, including the Mud Keys sandbars. There are other basins in the area, as well, including Turkey Basin, where Marvin Key and Snipes Key Sandbar is located.

Marvin Key Sandbar
Marvin Key Sandbar, Marvin Key is located inside the Great White Heron National Wildlife Refuge. This is a great place to hang out with friends and family. You will find many locals and guests to Key West there all week long. Marvin Key and surrounding islands are covered in mangroves and tropical vegetation making it an oasis paradise.

Snipe Key Sandbar
In the mood to venture to a few different locations, Snipe Key is close by and also located in Turkey Basin. Snipe Key is one of the most popular and most convenient sandbars near Key West. It’s well-known for its crystal-clear water and for having a swing made from driftwood, suspended over the water from a tree. Beautiful place for a photo opportunity. Snipe Key is large and accommodating with spacious and deep areas for anchoring your boat for a fun filled day. Enjoy long strolls in the shallow waters along the water’s edge as you make your way towards Mangrove Island.

Boca Chica Sandbar
Boca Chica Sandbar, not to be confused with Boca Grande Key. The Boca Chica sandbar is one of the closest sandbars to Key West. It’s located just offshore of Boca Chica Key. The water depth at Boca Chica sandbar can be deeper than other sandbars in some locations. It can be as deep as waist or chest high, depending on spot and the tide level.
